Required Documents

✅ Birth Certificate (apostilled)

Must be issued by your country and apostilled according to the Hague Convention.

✅ Background Check (apostilled) – valid for 90 days

Each country has its own version.

Examples: FBI (USA), ACRO (UK).

Research your country’s official background check and get it apostilled after receiving it.

✅ Passport

✅ Birth Certificate of the Brazilian spouse

• Must be the newest version of the certificate.
• You can request a new copy here: registrocivil.org.br

✅ Marriage Certificate or Common Law (União Estável) Certificate

• If you have a União Estável, make sure to bring the certificate, not just the signed contract.

✅ Brazilian Background Checks (Federal + State)

• From your current state/city in Brazil.

✅ Three Forms

• Declaration of no international criminal records
• Declaration of spouse
• Declaration that both spouses live in Brazil

✅ Fees

• R$168,13 – Residency process (GRU boleto, code 140066)
